An operation of the Office for Diversity and Multicultural Education, the Dis-Orientation Packet was created in the summer of 2007, to be distributed to incoming F07 students. Summer interns, Yasmine Farhang and Ragni Kidvai compiled a 100+ page zine comprised of historical timelines, narratives, definitions, etc. specifically relating to racism, classism, gender/sexuality, transgender identity, and disability/ableism. The packet also includes histories of identity-based housing, answers to common questions about "safe spaces," descriptions of helpful resources and offices on campus for all students, and more.
In 2009, summer intern Jessica Kim created this page dedicated to the Dis-Orientation Packet because, as a resource, it should constantly be available to all students, staff, faculty, and the community as a whole. The packet was also linked on Facebook.
In 2011, summer interns Ria Sen 07F and JD Stokely 07F updated this packet. This revision includes an updated timeline, recent on-campus events, personal narratives from current and graduating students, etc.
