Feminist Performance Collective
Feminist Performance Collective aims to create a safe space for marginalized identities to explore issues related to identity and oppression through performance. Given that identity and oppression are inherently political topics, FPC has a political agenda in that it seeks to give voice to those who society has silenced, and to honor and let speak the bodies that society has historically degraded or burdened with shame. FPC will provide a safe space for students without any artistic background to explore and collaborate on performance pieces collectively, to receive feedback through workshops, to share and explore the world of performance with one another through discussions and screenings of performance art, and to host public events open to the whole Hampshire community wherein artists visiting the Five College area can perform and engage in dialogue with students through talk-backs. FPC will organize an event for students to showcase their work to the Hampshire community. Because FPC’s intent is to give voice and speak out against oppression, FPC will organize performances open to the community so that these political messages can reach a wider audience in a public forum.
