Hampshire College Film Society
The Hampshire College Film Society is an open student group dedicated to the study and production of everything cinema. Through events, fundraisers, nightly screenings, and general campus involvement, Hampshire College Film Society aims to engage the student body in as fruitful and helpful a way as possible. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU. WE ARE YOU. GET TO KNOW US ON FACEBOOK. FIND US ON FACEBOOK. GET TO KNOW PEOPLE ON FACEBOOK. WE ARE NECROCINEMA.
Our mission is to show films and videos that exist outside of the megalomania of tinseltown. We want to share and screen work of the lesser known breed. Films of experiment, of activism, of perversion, and of truths that were felt by the people who made them. It is for love and for community.
Our group was started in the Spring of 2009. That year we organized two successful screenings. One of which was a showing of two rare film prints! We called that evening, "A Spectacular Night of Smith's". We showed Harry Smith's, "Mirror Animation" and Jack Smith's, "Flaming Creatures". That year we also held the End of the Year Student Film Screening. This event was a great one for us as we all had a chance to see the work of our peers and enjoy it with the greater community!
