Natural Science Students (Unrecognized)
Natural Science Students is designed to connect students interested in the natural sciences with each-other. This group's purpose is not to provide academic credit, but to give students interested in the natural sciences a place to discuss and enrich their passions outside the classroom together. Throughout the school year, it will host meetings and events for its members including (but not limited to) students interested in the natural sciences to meet NS faculty staff and other members of the Five College community involved in the natural sciences. For instance, the group will be in charge of hosting a weekly NS Student Teas (and four square game that follows). This will be a weekly space for students (and invited staff and faculty) to meet each other, to give informal talks about their research, interests, and also to network. During each of these meetings, there will be a guiding topic of discussion such as a sub-field of the natural sciences or a recent scientific discovery. In addition, occasionally there will be science demonstrations performed by invited faculty and staff. Science demonstrations that involve the use of any hazardous materials will be limited to two per semester and will have to seek approval of Hampshire laboratory manager, Chelvanaya B. Gabriel, in advance.
